What it takes to set up a mobile veterinary clinic

14 Nov 2022

When pets need to undergo complex surgeries or specialized diagnostic examinations and their owners do not have the appropriate vehicles to transport them, ambulance services can be used. Mobile veterinary clinics equipped with specific equipment to ensure the patient’s well-being are used to carry out this activity. A veterinary doctor is also on board, who may sometimes be assisted by nurses or paramedics.

These particular vehicles are, moreover, indispensable for bringing our four-legged friends in critical condition or particularly agitated to the clinic. Car travel without the support of specialized personnel can pose a huge risk to their health. On the contrary, advanced equipment and professionals in the equipped vehicles are able to monitor patients’ vital parameters, anesthetize them and intervene in case of various emergencies.

Mobile veterinary clinics must meet strict safety and hygiene standards to avoid any hazards and/or bacterial contamination that could endanger the lives of animals and operators. In addition, these facilities must meet precise requirements and be licensed for their use.

Below we elaborate on the types and characteristics of devices that can be inserted into cars to turn them into walking “hospitals.”

Essential equipment to set up a mobile veterinary clinic

According to Ministerial Decree No. 217 of Oct. 9, 2012, vehicles used to transport sick, injured or debilitated animals must have machinery to stabilize them, keep them under anesthesia, check their parameters and ensure safe movement. In addition, it is mandatory that at least one veterinarian be present, as he or she would know how to act in case of need and perform any minor emergency operations.

Our company is a reference point in Italy and abroad for theoutfitting of state-of-the-art mobile veterinary clinics. In fact, we specialize in designing and creating custom-made furniture complements that perfectly fit the environments of these special vehicles. In addition, we develop and create all the instrumentation and equipment essential for the care of our four-legged friends.

Equipment needed includes first aid supplies, a multi-parameter monitor, oxygen concentrator, lung ventilator, anesthesia supplies, portable blood gas analyzer, operating table, hot/cold ventilation system, stretchers, cages and carriers.

Since these are health care facilities, one aspect that should not be overlooked is hygiene. Since traces of the patients’ bodily fluids may be found on the vehicle surfaces, disinfection and sanitization of the spaces should be provided. Thus, the spread of even serious diseases and pathogenic microorganisms is prevented.

Set up special means to mobile veterinary clinic

Our great love for animals and desire to provide state-of-the-art solutions for the experts who care for them have led us to devise highly customized projects.Setting up mobile veterinary clinics is, in fact, an activity that sets us apart. Over the years, we have deepened our expertise in the field and continue to keep abreast of the latest technologies in order to offer appropriate products.

We can arrange the essential equipment and components for different types of special vehicles, including veterinary ambulances, mobile veterinary garrisons, and rescue cars. Depending on the service provided, the activities to be carried out on board, and the characteristics of the vehicle, we will make suitable custom furniture and fit suitable equipment.

For fire department dog units, for example, we design mobile veterinary clinics equipped with drug cabinets, hanging furniture, transport cages, sinks, anesthesia systems, stretchers, operating tables, multi-parameter monitors, and ventilation systems.

In contrast, rescue vehicles, which are used exclusively to transport patients to the appropriate facilities, have two carriers, a water supply shower and an aeration system.

Cages and carriers to set up mobile veterinary clinic

In our rich and varied catalog of items, we have several designed specifically for special vehicles used for transferring animals to clinics. The main ones include cages and boxes made of aluminum and galvanized mesh, available in different models and sizes. The rear can be tilted to fit in the trunk of the vehicle.

We make professional thermoplastic resin pet carriers equipped with a hygienic draining mat and a plastic-coated steel door with a four-point safety lock. They are equipped with side hooks with snap and safety lock, as well as a pull-out and extendable handle and a storage compartment. These devices can be placed on vehicles and have a maximum load capacity of 45 kg.

Thanks to our experience in the field, we also create stretchers suitable for all rescue vehicles, canine units and mobile veterinary clinics. Every single element is designed ad hoc and with attention to detail to ensure safety in patient transport and versatility of use. Our custom-made stretchers with holes ensure a high level of hygiene even on long trips, having an easy-to-clean removable tray.

In addition to this equipment, we also provide the necessary equipment and devices to perform small emergency interventions on board. To get more information about our items, contact us.
